Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the first fully electric version of its iconic G-Class SUV, called the G580 EQ, at an event in Beverly Hills. The G-Class SUV has been recognised as an all-conquering off-roader for several decades and later became a status symbol for celebrities.
However, with the automotive industry shifting towards electric vehicles, Mercedes has introduced the all-electric G580 EQ with EQ Technology. The vehicle retains the classic boxy styling of the gas-powered G-Class and is claimed to remain an extremely capable all-terrain vehicle.
The G580 EQ boasts four electric motors that generate an impressive 579 horsepower, providing a driving range of approximately 240 miles on a single charge. The luxury electric SUV will have a starting price of $180,000 and is set to hit the market in late 2024 or early 2025, marking a significant milestone in Mercedes’ transition towards electrification of its vehicle lineup.
The reveal event in Beverly Hills featured a performance by rapper Travis Scott.
