BYD Co., a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has surpassed Tesla to become the world’s largest maker of electric vehicles.
BYD’s rise to the top involved a strategy of vertical integration, producing most of its components, which allowed it to offer a range of affordable EVs. Additionally, BYD’s global expansion is supported by investments from Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, and the company is actively building factories in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
BYD Company Limited or BYD is a publicly listed Chinese conglomerate manufacturing company headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. It was founded by Wang Chuanfu in February 1995.
