BMW has teased a new entry-level race car based on the M2, set to debut in 2026. The automaker shared images of the camouflaged vehicle on social media, offering few details about its intended racing class or performance capabilities.
Unlike the M3 and M4, the BMW M2 has never actually served as the basis of an official race car. That is going to change in 2026, according to the automaker — although BMW’s first hint of an M2-based racer doesn’t include much in the way of details about where the car will race, or how fast it will be.
While the current M4 serves as the base for BMW’s GT3 and GT4 racers, the M2’s design suggests it might be aimed at a different, perhaps more accessible, racing category.
